Today on 25 June 2025, President Paul Kagame received Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, outgoing President of the African Development Bank, at Urugwiro Village.

Their meeting highlighted Rwanda’s strong ties with AfDB and successful cooperation in key economic sectors.

Dr. Adesina is in Rwanda for the 28th Annual Conference on Global Economic Analysis.

What we know about Akinwumi Adesina ?

is a Nigerian economist, who is currently serving as the President of the African Development Bank.

He was elected as the President of the African Development Bank in the year of  2015 and re-peated to sit on that for a second term in 2020.

What are the 5 objectives of the African Development Bank?
Indeed, The AfDB is advancing Africa’s development through its “High 5” priorities, targeting critical sectors for transformative growth:
  • Light-up and Power Africa,
  • Feed Africa,
  • Industrialize Africa,
  • Integrate Africa,
  • and Improve the Quality of Life for the People of Africa.

So this conversation was very significant to the Rwanda development strategies plan especially for achieving 2050 objectives and to maintain value of Rwandan currency at global foreign exchange.
