Yago Agrees to Collaborate with Minister Utumatwishima to Solve Problems in the Showbiz Industry

Artist Nyarwaya Innocent, also known as Yago Pon Dat, has agreed to step up and contribute to solving the problems in the Rwandan showbiz industry after receiving a message from Minister Dr. Utumatwishima Jean Nepo Abdallah. Yago believes that these issues have caused unnecessary conflicts and defamation on social media.

Yago expressed his gratitude to Minister Dr. Utumatwishima Jean Nepo Abdallah for supporting Rwandan artists and for the love he showed by attending Yago’s first concert in Camp Kigali, where he launched his album “Suwejo” on December 22, 2023.

Through his platform, Yago TV Show, Yago shared his thoughts and ideas on how he believes these problems in the showbiz industry can be solved, which motivated him to speak out.

The artist is ready to talk to Minister Dr. Utumatwishima and offer his help in promoting the growth of the entertainment industry in Rwanda. He stated, “I also made mistakes in the past while defending myself, for which I apologized. I am ready to work with the Minister to fight the injustices happening in Showbiz, especially those that are made public on social media.”

He added, “Please, have conversations with us because you are responsible for us. Understand what’s on the minds of these artists. Some are afraid to speak up about what they’ve been through because of fear and intimidation. This fear is what has caused conflicts and hatred.”

Yago also said, “Don’t see me as someone coming to cause conflict. I am here to build. The day I am called to explain, I will provide evidence.”

He clarified that his fans, who call themselves “Big Energy,” are not a gang but music lovers who want to fight against the injustices in the showbiz industry. However, he acknowledged that there might be some individuals who misuse the Big Energy name to commit mistakes or crimes, but he emphasized that he does not encourage such behavior.

He explained, “Just like APR or Rayon Sports fans might make mistakes and face punishment, I see similar cases, but it’s not the teams that encourage such behavior. Big Energy is not a gang. I’m not here to destroy or create division among Rwandans, no!”

Yago decided to speak out because he saw some artists leave the industry due to the injustices they faced, with their careers being blocked by certain people he didn’t wish to name.

The artist believes that one of the solutions to these problems is to have a formal body that represents and disciplines YouTubers or artists for any mistakes they make. Those who continue to break the rules should be referred to legal authorities for appropriate punishment.
