At a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump reported being shot in the ear. Trump described hearing a “whizzing sound” and feeling a “bullet ripping through skin.”
The attack ended with a member of the Secret Service shooting and killing the assailant. In the chaos, one spectator was killed, and two others were critically injured, as confirmed by the Secret Service.
A witness told the BBC they saw a man with a rifle crawling on a nearby roof before the shots were fired. Video footage from the event shows Trump, the leading Republican presidential candidate, dropping to the ground before standing up with blood on the side of his face.
