Lionel Messi, the star forward for Argentina and Inter Miami, will be sidelined for an unspecified amount of time after getting injured in the Copa America final against Colombia. Inter Miami’s coach, Tata Martino, shared this news during a press conference on Tuesday, ahead of their Wednesday match against Toronto.
Following a medical examination, it was confirmed that Messi had injured his right leg. However, the exact timeline for his return remains uncertain and will depend on his recovery and further medical evaluations.
Coach Martino announced that Messi would miss at least two upcoming matches: one against Toronto on Wednesday and another against the Chicago Fire on Saturday.
Messi was hurt in the first half of the Copa America final but returned to the field under medical supervision. Unfortunately, he suffered a broken leg in the second half and was seen in tears on the bench as Colombia’s Lautaro Martinez scored the winning goal.
This season, Messi has played 12 games for Inter Miami, scoring 12 goals and assisting nine. His absence will be a significant loss for the team.
