The Rwanda National Football Team, Amavubi, won against Police FC in a friendly match as they prepare for their upcoming game against Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
This match took place on the morning of Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the training ground of Amahoro Stadium.
The main purpose of this game was to give playing time to the players who didn’t participate in the recent match against Libya, as well as those who hadn’t had enough playing time. Coach Frank Spittler started these players in the game.
Some of the starting players included Maxime Wenssens, Byiringiro Gilbert, Ishimwe Christian, Niyigena Clement, Nshimiyimana Yunussu, Ruboneka Jean Bosco, Mugisha Bonheur, Kwizera Jojea, Iraguha Hadji, Gitego Arthur, and Samuel Gueulette.
In the first half, there was a key substitution when Byiringiro Gilbert was replaced by Nsabimana Aimable in defense. Towards the end of the half, Amavubi scored a goal through Ruboneka.
The match, which focused on assessing the players’ form, lasted 53 minutes and ended with a 1-0 victory for Amavubi.
Rwanda is set to host Nigeria on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 3 PM at Amahoro Stadium for their second match in Group Four.
The team is in high spirits after a 1-1 draw against Libya in Tripoli.
Ticket prices for the game are 2,000 RWF for general seating, 3,000 RWF for regular seats, 20,000 RWF for VIP, 50,000 RWF for Business Suites, and 1 million RWF for Sky Box.
