Gasogi United has begun preparations for the big event that will mark the match against Rayon Sports at Amahoro Stadium during the fourth day of the National Football League on September 21, 2024.
Gasogi United is currently leading the league, while Rayon Sports has not won a single match yet. Their scheduled game against APR FC was postponed because APR FC has a CAF Champions League qualifier against Pyramids.
Gasogi United’s management announced that they have started organizing an extraordinary event, something never seen before in Rwandan football. It will be the first time these two teams meet at the newly renovated and upgraded Amahoro Stadium.
Speaking to IGIHE, KNC, the president of Gasogi United, said: “We want to prepare an event that will stay in the minds of all Rwandans, not just football fans.”
“We have made sure that everything will be perfect and new for anyone who takes the time to come to Amahoro Stadium to watch the match between Rayon Sports and Gasogi United. Rwandans will witness things their eyes have never seen before.”
Among the planned activities for the day is bringing in two popular MCs (hosts) well-known to Kigali’s youth but not from the football world. Additionally, top DJs from Kigali, such as DJ Marnaud, DJ Sonia, DJ Crush, and DJ Caspi, will be there to entertain the crowd.
KNC also mentioned that they will set up large TV screens, over three meters wide, in different parts of the stadium. These screens will allow the audience to watch the return leg of the APR FC vs. Pyramids match, while also enjoying other entertainment happening at the stadium, which can comfortably seat up to 45,000 people.
Rayon Sports and Gasogi United last faced each other at Amahoro Stadium in the league during Gasogi’s first match in the top division, where they drew 0-0. They also met in the 2021 group-stage league, where Rayon Sports won 1-0.
