Libya’s national football team has parted ways with its coach, Milutin Sredojevic, known as “Micho,” after poor performance in two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Micho, from Serbia, started the qualifiers with a 1-1 draw against Rwanda in Tripoli, and then lost 2-1 to Benin. These results left Libya at the bottom of Group D with only one point.
Micho, who had previously coached the Rwandan national team, was dismissed shortly after starting the job in Libya. He had joined the team in October 2023 and had led them to nine victories, mostly in friendly matches.
He was criticized for making poor player selections and for his team’s unappealing style of play.
Libya is preparing for two upcoming matches against Nigeria next month. They will first visit Nigeria before hosting them on the fourth day of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifiers, which will be held in Morocco.
