The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has arrested six people suspected of stealing cars.
RIB reports that four stolen cars have been returned to their owners. These cars were stolen in the Gicumbi, Kayonza, and Nyamagabe districts.
The RIB explains that the suspects used various tricks to avoid detection and even created fake identities.
RIB spokesperson Dr. Murangira B Thierry explains that one member of the gang made a deal with a car owner to rent the car for five days, paying an advance fee and then gathering information about the car owner.
Dr. Murangira advises “people renting or buying cars to be cautious and carefully check before renting or buying a vehicle.”
The arrested suspects are being held at the RIB stations in Nyamirambo and Nyarugenge, and their case is currently under review by the prosecution.
