A primary school teacher in Nyanza District found himself in a difficult situation when a woman he had been living with for 12 days demanded two million Rwandan Francs (Frw 2,000,000), claiming he had made her pregnant. The teacher decided to take drastic action in response.
According to reports, the teacher, who works at a primary school in Busasamana Sector, Nyanza District, brought the woman to live with him after meeting her in Nyaruguru District. However, after some time together, the woman refused to return to her home.
The teacher agreed to give her Frw 80,000 and promised to continue supporting her, especially since she claimed to be pregnant. But the woman insisted on staying with him as his wife, or alternatively, being paid two million Rwandan Francs before she would leave.
The teacher agreed to stay with her, but after 12 days, he was no longer willing to continue.
Residents of the area reported that on the morning of September 26, 2024, the teacher showed up with several young men on motorcycles. Some of them approached the woman and restrained her, while others entered the house and removed the teacher’s belongings, loading them onto the motorcycles.
The woman tried to resist and screamed for help, but the men overpowered her.
Almost everything was taken from the house that the teacher had been renting. He locked the door, took the key, got on one of the motorcycles, and left, abandoning the woman outside.
Sources indicate that local authorities arrived at the scene and found the woman in a distressed state, with the men having left her physically shaken. The authorities advised her to file a complaint with the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB).
The woman said she did not know the whereabouts of the teacher but was confident that she would find him since his workplace is known.
The conflict arose because the woman wanted to live with the teacher permanently, while he insisted that, despite their intimacy, he was not ready to settle down or start a family.
